S41893/2007,. The 2F category (“F” for “follow-up”) is composed of lesions that are thought most likely to be benign, but still must be proven to be so by demonstrating stability over serial imaging examinations. suggested that “the minimum follow up remains to be defined” • It is the policy of this department to follow Bosniak 2F Renal cysts by CT scans at 6 months, and 1 year, and then annually until 5 years • This policy may be varied to take into account the age and comorbidity of the patient Prior studies of long-term follow-up of Bosniak category 2F [ 26 ], 3, and 4 lesions have focused on malignancy rates [ 14, 31] and histologic composition [ 13, 14] as determined at surgery. Some investigators have also reported on patient outcomes after surgery, such as local recurrence and cancer-specific survival [ 12, 13, 15, 28, 31, 32 ]. The Bosniak classification system of renal cystic masses divides renal cystic masses into five categories based on imaging characteristics on contrast-enhanced CT. It is helpful in predicting a risk of malignancy and suggesting either follow up o For example, Bosniak IIF (where the F is for follow-up) was added for cystic masses with many thin (or minimally thickened) septa with “perceived” enhancement, large (>3 cm) homogeneous nonenhancing hyperattenuating masses, and masses with thick or non–border-forming calcification. True Bosniak II lesions are benign lesions that do not require follow-up. According to our present results, 8.6% of the lesions were found to be RCC. The cysts in the bottom row (2F, 3 and 4) should be followed (the "F" in 2F means it requires "followup") and require further evaluation and management.

Soms blijkt een cyste verdacht te zijn (Bosniak 3 -5) of een niertumor te zijn geworden. 2021-02-01 · Some experts suggest that patients with Bosniak category II lesions require no follow-up. However, the data are confusing because reported larger case series did not separate category IIF from category II lesions.
Bosniak II, IIF, and III. It is the panel’s opinion that when there is disagreement or doubt regarding the classification of a renal cyst, such case should be presented at a multidisciplinary meeting. Our data suggests that it is safe to discharge patients with stable cysts after 2 years of surveillance. Adhering to follow-up protocols can alleviate pressure on radiology and urology services. 2017-06-01 · True Bosniak II lesions are benign lesions that do not require follow-up . According to our present results, 8.6% of the lesions were found to be RCC. For haemorrhagic cysts or partially septated with hyperdense material, we would recommend one imaging (CT/MRI/CEUS) within a period of 4–5 years, because some of these lesions can be misinterpreted and are finally deemed to be Bosniak IIF lesions.
Diagnosis, patient counseling, and renal biopsy are covered in addition to various management strategies, including partial and radical nephrectomy, thermal ablation, and active surveillance. To evaluate the natural history of Bosniak 2F cystic renal masses based on serial long term follow up and propose a length of follow up for these lesions. METHOD AND MATERIALS A rad database was searched from 1/1/96 - 5/1/11 for all 2F lesions with C+ CT or MR and at least 6 mo f/u with C+ CT or MR. 214-2F lesions fulfilled these criteria. 2020-01-24

The progression rate of Bosniak 2F renal lesions detected by CEUS accounted for 7.1% (8/112 patients) after a mean of 12.9 months. Bosniak 2F renal cystic lesions feature morphologic characteristics between Bosniak I and III categories, the majority of which remain benign. However, a minor part of Bosniak 2F lesions may progress to malignancy.

The final sample included 152 Bosniak category IIF cysts in 143 patients (7 patients had two cysts, and 1 patient had three cysts), as depicted in Figure 1. The mean cyst size in the first examination was 3.0 cm (range, 1 to 16 cm), and the mean follow-up period was 28 months (range, 6 to 118 months), as shown in Table 1.
